CLIMATE CHAMPIONS CHILDREN’S DEBATE COMPETITION FOR A GREENER WORLD
An engaging competition to enable structured discussion and vociferous arguments for a sustainable future

The detailed Rules of the Competition are stated below:
1. There should be maximum 3 participants in a team.
2. Only 16 registrations will be accepted on first come first serve basis and only one team is allowed from a School.
3. Eligibility criteria: Students of Class 9th to Class 12th.
4. All the teams are required to prepare all the 5 given topics.
5. 16 (Sixteen) teams will be divided into 4 groups through draw of lots. Thereafter each group will compete on a single topic allotted on the basis of draw lots, two teams each from the side of ‘affirmative’ and two teams each from the side of ‘negative’.
6. Each team will be given 30 minutes to prepare after allotment of topics.
7. The burden of proof to prove the motion lies on the affirmative/proposition side and therefore the proposition side will start the debate followed by the negative/opposition side.
8. Each team will be provided 6 minutes for opening speech which each team can divide among their respective team mates. The third speaker of the team will be given 3 minutes for rebuttals. It is to be noted that a bell will ring a minute before the expiration of allotted time.
9. In the qualifier round, one team will be shortlisted from each group which will compete in the semi-finals. The semi-final round will be conducted between 4 teams.
10. The negative and affirmative side for the finals shall also be allotted as per draw of lots.
11. The participants shall wear their respective school uniforms. Casual outfits are strictly prohibited.
12. In order to promote art among children, we are keeping registrations free. Only a single registration will be accepted from a school.
13. All the registered participants will be awarded with certificate of participation and token of appreciation from our organisation.
14. The teas will be judged on the basis of quality of evidence , argument quality, relevance, depth of research and analysis, clarity, confidence, organisation of arguments, speaking style, effective refutation, relevance of rebuttal, counter-arguments, effective questioning, time management, illustrative examples, decorum and non- verbal communication.
15. It should be noted that speech(s) shall conform to the rules and established principles of morality and shall abstain from making any inappropriate statements.
16. The registrations will close on October 23, 2023 at 05:00 pm.
